In my fervor to get busy I have decided to work on the Sock Knitters Anonomous November Sockdown. This challenge is to complete a texture stitch that doesn't include lace, cables, twisted stitches, etc. I have knit many pairs of socks but they are mostly generic stockinette, cuff down, short row heels, gussetts and kitchner stitch toes, so doing something different is really a challenge for me. For the list of approved patterns I have chosen a pattern that I think will be a little easier to do, it is Christmastime afterall, so I picked Amble by Alison Clayton http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/amble#
. I don't know which yarn I'll use. I have mostly commerical sock yarn so I won't do anything fancy, just knit the socks.
Then I joined a group on Ravelry to knit an advent scarf from December 1-19. They will email a pattern each day to add to the scarf for completion when time allows!! Should be fun.

In addition to these things I am crocheting an afghan for my daughter's new boyfriend for Christmas. Its from Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Coffee, Latte, Sand and Aran colors in a ripple stitch. Then I'm knitting an afghan for my oldest daughter out of a boucle yarn that is mostly black but has some amazing splashes of color in it. I got the yarn at Joann's Fabrics but I don't remember the name right now.
Also, I am knitting a scarf for my youngest daughter from a really beautiful superwash Merino, Bamboo, Nylon blend that I picked up from a booth at a fiber event this summer. It's from a farm in Wisconsin. I'll have to find the name of it but it will make a really beautiful, drappy shawl. I'm at the half way point now so the rest should go pretty fast. Maybe I can finish it this week.
So, that's all the stuff on my plate right now. But being more a part of the knitting community has really set me on a frenzy of knitting. I'm glad I have that right now.

I am completely new at this so hopefully I don't make a fool of myself but I wanted to share some of my life's journey and specifically my knitting journey with cyberspace...or whoever is interested. Recently I have begun watching The Knit Girllls podcast and have discovered a new passion for knitting. I have Christmas gifts to prepare but there is also a new grandchild (girl??) on the way so there are many things to knit. Since I am 56 years old, I feel very far removed for the current trends and the normal enjoyments of younger knitters so Leslie and Laura have really help me a lot to move a little closer to current knitting. For now I will try to figure out how to share my WIP's and FO's with whoever decides to look. I am on Ravelry as nomofomo too so that will be another place to post.
